Grey Coven Publishing accepts poetry, flash fiction, and visual art in our bi-annual anthologies. We also accept full length poetry collections. Please include a short, third-person bio and your pronouns with your submission. Anthology submissions should be titled as: Genre - Number of Pieces - Anthology Title (ex. Poetry - 5 pieces - Fall Anthology)

  • We prefer uncurated work (anything shared on social media is perfectly fine). We will accept previously published work as long as you hold the rights at the time of your submission and tell us where it was previously published.
  • Upon publication of your work, all rights revert back to you. We only take first publication rights for previously uncurated work.
  • Submissions are always free for the first week of each month during our submission period. For example, if our submission period is March-June, submissions will be free the first week of March, the first week of April, and the first week of May. Our submission fee is $5 for the rest of the month.
  • Our turnaround time is 1-2 months for anthology submissions and 1-3 months for Manuscript submissions. Our team is small, currently consisting of two editors and four readers. Please be patient while we carefully consider each submission. However, if we do not respond within the stated time frame, you may send an email inquiry to greycovenpublishing@gmail.com
  • Tip jar submissions are always accepted! A tip jar submission will guarantee a faster turnaround time, but it does not give you a better chance of being accepted. We will respond within 7 days to anthology tip jar submissions or 20 days for Manuscript submissions.
  • Grey Coven Publishing strives to elevate marginalized voices. We will not accept any racism, homophobia, or general hatred toward groups of people. Additionally, we give preference to female identifying, POC, and LGBTQ+ voices.
  • Submissions should be in a .doc, or .docx file. We prefer 11pt Garamond font with 1.15 spacing. Visual Art should be sent as a .jpg, .png, or print ready .pdf. We do not require cover letters, but if you would like to include one put it in the body of your document. We do ask for a third person bio with your pronouns.

Want to gain volunteer experience, add to your resume, and work in publishing? Join our team! We are currently looking for readers, visual artists, and graphic designers. As a small press, all our positions are unpaid at the moment. Benefits of working with us include team building zoom meetings, access to our upcoming writing workshops, and a staff holiday gift exchange. Additionally, we are happy to provide a reference should you ever need one.

Readers - FULL

Read our submissions and leave feedback to help editors decide which pieces we'll accept into our anthology. You also have the option to read and review full collections. We have two anthology submission periods per year. As a reader, you're committing to reviewing at lease 10 pieces per week during our submission periods (March-May & August-October).

Visual Artists

Submit visual art to our bi-annual anthologies with the chance to be featured on our cover. We release two anthologies a year and need a handful of artists to rotate creating our covers. Applying for this position means creating at least two visual art pieces per year (up to 10) to be considered for our anthologies. All mediums considered.

Graphic Designers

Design our instagram posts. Help us keep our social media as cohesive and visually pleasing as possible. If you have website experience, we would love assistance with our Squarespace website as well. Canva Pro or Photoshop experience required. The commitment for this position is one post per week (sometimes less, we are flexible and understanding of schedules).
